Perch Magazine Returns with Fifth Edition

September 29, 2020
By Bob Peters

Cornwall Ontario – Ever wonder why so many people choose to live in the Cornwall region? You might find the answer in the pages of the latest edition of Perch, the magazine that showcases all things cool and creative in Cornwall, Akwesasne, and the SDG Counties.

Perch Magazine 2020

The fifth edition of the magazine features 54 pages of stories about the people and places that makes this part of Eastern Ontario such an interesting place to live.

“Our team started this issue under ‘normal’ circumstances. The pandemic forced us to examine the magazine’s place in our community,” said Chantal Tranchemontagne, Editor-In-Chief. “Ultimately, we knew it was important to continue celebrating the people in our communities and their incredible accomplishments, especially a time tinged with great adversity.”

The Perch team worked to reimagine the Fall 2020 issue with a tweaked logo, new layout design, fresh form factor, increased page count, advertising opportunities, and improved distribution plan for the 2,500 printed copies. Though some stories were previously released on perchmagazine.com, the remaining stories will slowly be published on the digital channel in the coming months.

The 2020 edition is a nod to the resiliency of the people in our region and includes a feature of changemaker Dr. Norene Hyatt-Gervais of StoneCropAcres in Morrisburg, a profile of Passive House builder Jeremiah Point of Akwesasne, an advice column from Cornwall’s favourite funnymen, the Questionable Comedians, as well as sponsored content examining the local labour market from the Eastern Ontario Training Board.

This issue Perch was made possible thanks to support from generous advertisers, subscribers, and the Cornwall Tourism Development Fund.

Perch articles can be found online while print copies are available at a number of places including the Cornwall Civic Complex. And as always, subscriptions are also available on the website.
