Rising costs on imported goods and materials may drive expenses upward, pressure consumer prices, and create job uncertainty.

“This reality poses a serious test for local businesses, who must carefully assess shifting conditions and realign their operations accordingly,” said Cristian Urroz, President of the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce. “Small and medium-sized enterprises—vital to our local economy—will likely face tough decisions in the months ahead as they contend with supply chain disruptions and evolving market demands.”

By seeking new collaborations, pooling resources, and engaging in open dialogue,  the Chamber is seeking to identify practical solutions that foster resilience and long-term stability for Cornwall’s business community.

The Chamber urges all levels of government to work collaboratively with business leaders to develop tangible relief strategies, strengthen supply chains, and enact balanced trade policies that reinforce our region’s economic momentum. The Chamber remains committed to championing sustainable and practical solutions that help Cornwall and its surrounding areas flourish.

The Chamber encourages local business owners to reach out, share their concerns, and join in crafting proactive approaches. By standing together, we can safeguard jobs, foster investment, and ensure our business community remains united, resilient, and well-positioned for success.
