Spring Training Programs Announced at the Tri-County Literacy Council
February 23, 2026Cornwall Ontario – The Tri-County Literacy Council has announced new in-demand training programs as part of their spring schedule. Each program has been developed to help prepare adults for employment and essential skills.

“All programs are free of charge and designed to help participants gain the skills and confidence needed for employment and everyday life” said Angela Vinet, Executive Director.
In each 5-week training program, participants practice Skills for Success, while learning about the specific topic chosen. Successful learners receive a certificate.
Daycare Worker – starts March 3
- Prepares participants for entry-level employment in childcare settings
- Also serves as career exploration program for those seeking further education
Hands-on Tablet Training – starts March 3rd
- Small group classroom setting
- Learn how to use a tablet for everyday tasks, communication, and online services
Retail Associate – starts March 23rd
- Hands-on occupational training program
- Develop customer service, cash handling, and workplace readiness skills
Hospitality Careers – starts March 23rd
- Discover the many positions for working in restaurants, hotels, and tourism
- Career exploration program with links to further education, if so desired
Upgrading – available anytime
- Improve reading, writing, math, and computer skills
- Prepare for employment, further education, or independence
One-on-One Tutoring – available anytime
- Individualized instruction
- Customized learning plans based on personal goals

About the Tri-County Literacy Council
The Tri-County Literacy Council is a non-profit organization that specializes in adult literacy instruction based on FREE Skills for Success training for adults, including:
- Upgrading (Get SET – Skills, Education and Training)
- General Educational Development (GED) Preparation (for grade 12 equivalency)
- Apprenticeship Preparation
- Computer training
- Occupational training for entry-level positions
Training is based on the Skills for Success identified by the Government of Canada as necessary for success at work and in daily life. The agency also offers educational assessments and develops training plans based on an individual’s goals. All programs and services are free of charge.
