Cornwall to Have Presence at National Logistics Conference
May 13, 2013Cornwall Ontario – The City of Cornwall is looking to leverage recent growth of its logistics and supply chain sector at the upcoming Supply Chain Canada Conference, taking place May 14th and 15th at the Mississauga Convention Centre.
“Logistics is an important sector for Cornwall, and this conference allows us to share our success with senior business executives from across Canada,” said Mark Boileau, Manager of Cornwall Economic Development.
St. Lawrence College will also have a presence at the Conference, as College officials will be leading a panel discussion Tuesday. St. Lawrence College has recently developed three new courses to support the growing logistics and supply chain sector, and faculty member Bill Tennant will chair the panel discussion, which will include members of the Program Advisory Council as well as the City’s Mark Boileau.
The City will be also be unveiling a new brochure at the Conference. Entitled Logistics and Supply Chain Activities in Cornwall, the 12 page brochure will be included in the conference package of all attendees. The brochure provides information on Cornwall-based companies involved in supply chain activities as well as information on the Cornwall Business Park. The two day conference and tradeshow is put on by the Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Canada (SCL) and the Canadian Industrial Transportation Association (CITA). It is the premier conference bringing together 1200 supply chain, logistics, and transportation practitioners from across the country.
About the Cornwall Business Park
The Cornwall Business Park is located in the eastern part of the city, immediately adjacent to Highway 401. At well over 1600 acres, the Business Park is home to some of Canada’s largest distribution centres, award-winning manufacturers and some great transportation companies. Recent developments include the establishment of a 1.4 million sq.ft. distribution centre to service Target stores in Eastern Canada, and a 600,000 sq.ft. distribution centre for Shoppers Drug Mart. Fully serviced land in the Business Park is currently for sale at $30,000 per acre, making it some of the most affordable land in Ontario.
