ITS Building New Facility in the Cornwall Business Park
October 2, 2014Cornwall Ontario – The Cornwall Business Park is about to get a bit busier as one of the region’s largest transport companies is establishing a new base of operations in the Cornwall Business Park.
International Truckload Services (ITS) will be building a new freight terminal on a 21 acre parcel of land on Optimum Drive. The company currently leases two facilities in Cornwall, providing truckload and LTL service between Ontario, Quebec and the USA as well as warehousing and distribution services.
“The location is perfect for our business as it is right in the middle of all of the major distribution centres,” said Rob Haggarty, President of ITS. “Cornwall has become an important hub for supply chain activities in Eastern Canada, and ITS plans to be part of that growth.”
ITS has hired Bourgon Construction to design and build a 20,000 sq.ft. building that will house both offices and a truck maintenance facility. City staff are currently reviewing the site plan.
“The building will be a great addition to the Business Park,” said Chris Markell, owner of Bourgon Construction. “We expect to begin site work this fall, as soon as the site plan is approved and the building design is complete.”
ITS has a staff of over 100 people in Cornwall and operates over 70 power units and a combination of dry vans, heaters and temperature controlled tandem and tridem trailers.
