Olymel Adding Positions In CornwallJuly 4, 2016
Cornwall, Ontario – Olymel is looking to fill 30 positions at its bacon and ham processing plant in Cornwall.
“Demand for our products is strong and we will be increasing our production over the next several months,” says Jay Willyard, Cornwall Plant Manager.
Most of the new positions will be on the bacon production side of the plant, which also produces picnic hams. In 2013, Olymel added a continuous smokehouse and other technologies in a 70,000 sq.ft. expansion to its facility, which is located in the Cornwall Business Park.
New employees are offered on-site training in the areas of equipment operation, production practices, and health & safety. Wages and benefits are competitive for the region, with a number of incentive programs that can increase earnings. Although the immediate need is for production workers, the company is always looking to add technical expertise to its workforce.
“We operate unique machinery that is state-of-the-art for the industry,” notes Mr. Willyard. “Our maintenance team includes operating engineers, refrigeration technicians, electricians, electromechanical technicians, millwrights, welders, machinists and others.”

Once the recruitment period is completed, the Cornwall plant will employ more than 365 people.
“The Cornwall plant is strategically located near major Canadian cities such as Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa, and at the same time allows for easy access to USA markets,” added Mr. Willyard. “The continuous reinvestment in our facilities and workforce will help us continue to meet the varied needs of our customers.”
