Cornwall, Ontario – The Cornwall Civic Complex will once again host the annual convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which will see some 18,000 delegates attend over the next six weekends.

English language conventions will be held on the weekends of May 31 to June 2, June 7 to 9 and June 14 to 16 followed by French language conventions on the weekends of  June 21 to 23, June 28 to 30 and July 5 to 7.

“This convention is one of the largest events that we host at the Civic Complex each year, and it generates significant economic spin-offs for the entire community,” said Janice Robinson, Facilities Rental Coordinator. “We’re thrilled to once again be hosting this event.”

This year marks the 15th year that the Watch Tower Convention has been held in Cornwall. The convention has a significant positive economic impact, with city restaurants and hotels busy for the entire period. Organizers estimate the impact at over $1.5 million per year.

The Cornwall convention is part of a larger overall schecule of events taking place across Canada. During the months of June through August, Jehovah’s Witnesses will present 54 convention programs in 25 locations across the country. In addition to English and French, the convention programs will be presented in Arabic, Chinese (Cantonese), Chinese (Mandarin), Haitian Creole, Korean, Portuguese, Quebec Sign Language, Spanish, and Tagalog. The total projected expected attendance in Canada is 146,000.

This year’s convention theme is ‘God’s Word Is Truth,’ based on Jesus’ words recorded in the Bible at John 17:17.

The public is invited to attend any session or the entire program at the Civic Complex. All morning sessions will begin at 9:20 am. The afternoon sessions begin at 1:45 pm on Friday, 1:35 pm on Saturday and 1:25 pm on Sunday. There is no admission fee. Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are supported entirely by voluntary donations.
