Construction Crane Towers Over Montreal Road
May 22, 2025Cornwall Ontario – One of Cornwall’s most significant residential development projects in recent memory has broken ground.
A large crane towers over 910 Montreal Road, which will be the site of a 160-unit apartment building. The project is being undertaken by Montreal-based developer Swimko.
“This marks an exciting milestone for both Swimko and the City of Cornwall,” says Berish Schwimmer, CEO of Swimko. “As the first high-rise residential building in the city, it will not only offer stunning views of the St. Lawrence River, but also set a new standard for modern urban living in the region. We’re especially grateful for the support provided through the Heart of the City program and the City’s collaborative approach throughout the approval process. We’re proud to help shape Cornwall’s future skyline.”
Once complete, the 12 storey- building will offer 160 one-bedroom, two-bedroom and studio apartments and will include an underground parking garage. Construction is expected take approximately 2 years to complete.
The site was previously occupied by a gas-station and has been fully remediated with support from the City’s Brownfield Community Improvement Program. It will be further supported with assistance from the Heart of the City CIP program.
“One of the strategic priorities of Council is to support the expansion of housing options in the city,” says Mayor Justin Towndale. “This new development will offer much-needed rental accommodations for the community.”
Additional information on this development will be available as construction progresses.
