Cornwall to Host Curling Ontario’s 2027 Provincial Showdown
April 22, 2026Cornwall Ontario – Curling Ontario is bringing the 2027 Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships to Cornwall from January 10–17, 2027.

Co‑hosted by the City of Cornwall and the Cornwall Curling Centre, the week‑long event will determine Ontario’s champions who will go on to represent the province at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and the Montana’s Brier.
This year’s championships introduce a refined competition format developed by a Working Group of current and former athletes, coaches, hosts and Curling Ontario staff — informed by competitor feedback and stakeholder survey data. Key elements include:
- Field size & entry: Eight teams per division, with five teams earning direct entry based on CTRS season-long performance.
- Full Round Robin: Every team plays a predictable, fan- and broadcaster-friendly schedule that delivers more head‑to‑head competition.
- Playoffs: Single tie‑breaker draw, followed by semi‑finals and a final to determine the champions.
“We’re thrilled to bring the best of Ontario curling to Cornwall,” said Matt Allen, Executive Director of Curling Ontario. “This new format rewards consistent performance and creates an engaging experience for athletes, fans and broadcasters. We can’t wait to work with the Cornwall community to make this a week to remember.”
Fans can expect high-stakes competition, community energy and outstanding on‑ice skill as Ontario’s top teams compete in a compact, exciting format that rewards season-long performance. The event will be a showcase both for in‑person attendees at the Cornwall Civic Complex and for viewers at home via our broadcast partners, including Cogeco’s yourTV.
“We are proud to host the best that Ontario has to offer in curling as the Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships once again returns to Cornwall,” said Mayor Justin Towndale. “On behalf of our residents, I look forward to welcoming all the athletes, officials, and spectators to Cornwall, and invite them to explore what our community has to offer.”
Cornwall has a long tradition of curling dating back over a century, and the Cornwall Curling Centre is home to the annual Shorty Jenkins Classic, a key date on the international curling calendar.
“The Cornwall Curling Centre planning committee is proud to welcome players and fans from across the province,” said Pam Lalonde, Club President.
A community hub on the St. Lawrence, the Cornwall Curling Centre hosts leagues, bonspiels and community programs year‑round and is proud to partner with Curling Ontario to welcome teams and fans in 2027.
“This championship is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our community, our incredible volunteer spirit, and our love of the game. We’re ready to make it a fantastic experience for everyone,” added Rob Mahon, Past Club President.
