Cornwall to remain home to Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Control
March 19, 2026Cornwall Ontario – Cornwall will be home to an integral part of the Canadian Armed Forces for several more years.

The Department of National Defence has extended its lease at the DEV Centre for the operation of the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Control Operations (CFSACO), which provides comprehensive training to aerospace control officers and operators.
“We are very pleased to be home to CFSACO and look forward to working with our military partners for many more years,” says Ian Bentley, General Manager of the DEV Centre. “The DEV Centre has a strong track record of hosting military and government clients for a wide variety of training activity.”
CFSACO has been located in Cornwall since 1979, and it’s previous lease expired in 2025. The new lease will ensure operations continue well beyond 2031.
About CFSACO
The Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Control Operations (CFSACO) is responsible for military aerospace control training. A range of basic and specialty courses and conversion training are offered to students who are trained to become either Air Traffic Controllers/Operators who ensure safe and effective aircraft control operations at Wings or deployed locations, or Air Battle Managers who manage a multitude of air assets while conducting offensive or defensive air operations in both deployed and exercise environments.
Using a variety of simulators and new instructional techniques like self-paced training, learning facilitators and coaching, students study airborne weapons systems, ground control systems and radar, meteorology, radio telephony and procedures, air regulations and navigation orders, and command and control of military aircraft.
Successful graduates of CFSACO, once certified at their respective units, will be ready to start their first assignment as Aerospace Controllers/Operators, controlling live aircraft— including many exchange opportunities with NATO allies as well as positions at most Air Force wings across Canada.
