Cornwall Welcomes Dr. Sloan Back Home
August 21, 2026Cornwall Ontario – Dr. Lisa Sloan is returning to Cornwall to set up a new family medicine practice, supported by the city’s Medical Recruitment and Relocation Program.

Dr. Sloan earned her MD from the University of Ottawa in 2001 and is certified in Family Medicine by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. With a reputation for attentive care and a holistic approach to family medicine, she provides personalized treatment for individuals and families across all age groups. Her practice is known for its warm atmosphere and evidence-based care.
“I grew up in Williamstown where much of my family still resides,” says Dr. Sloan. “Returning home has always been a long-term goal both personally and professionally. I look forward to caring for patients in the region I have always considered home and contributing to the long-term health of the community.”
Dr. Sloan will be setting up her practice at the McConnell Medical Centre.

Cornwall’s Economic Development Department has continued to grow its medical recruitment efforts through strategic partnerships with local health sector partners. At the same time, the Great River Ontario Health Team has launched a new targeted recruitment campaign. Over the last few months, representatives from the City, local health institutions, and the family health organizations have attended recruitment events across Canada.

About the Medical Recruitment and Relocation Program
The City of Cornwall has a long-standing medical relocation program. As approved by City Council, a physician can recover up to $25,000 in relocation expenses in exchange for agreeing to practice in Cornwall for a minimum of 3 years.
About the Medical Scholarship Program
The City of Cornwall medical scholarship award provides $150,000 to a Cornwall resident pursuing family medicine, so long as they agree to practice in the community for a minimum of 5 years after completing their studies.
