Cornwall’s Jeff Ridal Featured in Canadian Geographic Magazine

Cornwall Ontario – Dr. Jeff Ridal of the River Institute is featured in a 2-page article in a special edition of Canadian Geographic magazine.

The 82 page magazine is devoted to stories of the Great Lakes and St. Lawence Watershed. Dr. Ridal’s article can be found on pages 74 and 75.

“The article offers great exposure for the River Institute, and the important work that our staff are doing,” says Dr. Ridal. “It is an honour to be profiled to the audience of Canadian Geographic.”

Dr. Ridal is the Executive Director and Chief Research Scientist at the River Institute, a non-government organization that uses the St Lawrence River as its natural laboratory. The River Institute undertakes scientific work that contributes to a greater understanding of how large river ecosystems work. It utilizes Western scientific knowledge as well as the traditional knowledge of the nearby Mohawks of Akwesasne.

Founded in 1994, the River Institute conducts over 30 research and community education programs in any given year, and is currently expanding its offices with the addition of an eDNA lab.
