Cornwall Ontario – A new seasonal event is set to bring a big dose of holiday cheer to Downtown Cornwall in the lead up to Christmas.

Stacia Carlton of Essential Kitchen

On Friday nights (4 pm to 9 pm) and Saturdays (12 pm to 6 pm) starting this weekend and running right up until December 23rd, visitors to Downtown Cornwall will find plenty of extra things to see and do with 12 Days of Holiday Cheer. There will be music at the corner of First and Pitt streets, a wandering Santa greeting residents, photo cutouts for a fun family selfie and other activities to go along with special activities and demos taking place at participating businesses.

The demos and activities – some free and some paid – will include things like an egg nog tasting at Essential Kitchen, an e-bike storage seminar at Total Cyclery, visits and photos with Santa at Tickle Your Fancy Gift Shop, hot chocolate at Job Zone d’emploi, a special drop off for letters to Santa at Happy Popcorn, cookie making lessons at Carrots N’ Dates and more. The full schedule of activities and other updates can be found on the 12 Days of Holiday Cheer Facebook page.

“We want people to explore Downtown and see all that we have to offer,” said Stacia Carlton of Essential Kitchen, one of the main organizers of the event.

To add to the festive feeling, planters throughout the Downtown have been given a holiday touch and participating businesses have also installed decorated Christmas trees outside of their storefronts to add to the holiday spirit.

Shoppers will also have a chance to participate in contests to win gift cards from participating businesses.
