Great River, Great Future Campaign to Attract Healthcare Professionals
June 26, 2026Cornwall Ontario – A new promotional campaign entitled Great River, Great Future has been launched to attract, recruit, welcome, and retain healthcare professionals to the region.

The Great River, Great Future recruitment campaign, organized by the Great River Ontario Health Team, brings together partners across Akwesasne, Cornwall, Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Russell Township and parts of rural Southeast Ottawa to attract and support healthcare professionals who want to work, live and belong in our region. The initiative promotes opportunities, strengthens recruitment efforts, enhances the welcome experience for candidates and their families, and helps ensure strong access to healthcare services for years to come.
The launch follows a $ 68,000 provincial investment through the Ontario Ministry of Rural Affairs, announced today by MPP Nolan Quinn.
“Addressing health human resource needs requires a shared commitment and a collective approach,” says Diane Plourde, Executive Transformation Lead, Great River Ontario Health Team. “This project is a great example of what can be achieved when partners across the Great River Ontario Health Team come together with a common vision, to strengthen access to care for the entire community we serve. By working collaboratively, sharing opportunities, and looking beyond individual organizational needs, our partners are helping to build a more connected, sustainable healthcare workforce across the region. This is a reflection of the strong partnerships within the Great River OHT and our collective commitment to improving health outcomes for everyone in our communities.”
The campaign was developed in response to growing healthcare workforce challenges affecting communities across the region. As healthcare providers continue to face recruitment pressures and increasing demand for services, organizations throughout the Great River Ontario Health Team recognized that a collaborative approach would have a greater impact than individual recruitment efforts. At the centre of the initiative is GreatRiverGreatFuture.ca, a recruitment website featuring career opportunities, community information, relocation resources, and tools to help healthcare professionals explore life and work in the region. A promotional video is also available on YouTube: Great River, Great Future Video
The campaign will also include coordinated social media and digital marketing efforts, community familiarization tours for prospective candidates and their families, and participation in healthcare recruitment fairs, conferences, residency events, and networking opportunities throughout Ontario and Quebec. Together, these activities will showcase the region’s healthcare opportunities, communities, and quality of life while helping candidates make informed decisions about building their future here.
