Intake opens for Francophone Community Grants Program
March 12, 2026Cornwall Ontario – The Ontario government is continuing to support the province’s vibrant Francophone communities with the launch of the 2026–2027 Francophone Community Grants Program (FCGP).
Through the FCGP, Ontario is protecting the cultural and economic vitality of the Francophone community by funding initiatives that improve access to French language services, strengthen organizational capacity and promote Francophone culture.
“Ontario’s Francophonie is at the heart of our provincial identity and prosperity,” said Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Francophone Affairs. “Through the FCGP, our government is investing in the future of our Francophone communities and organizations, equipping them to bring forward new projects and opportunities that will power strong, sustainable economic growth in French-speaking communities for generations to come.”
Community organizations and businesses are invited to submit their projects by April 23, 2026, under one of the program’s two streams: Community and Culture or Economic Development. Organizations and businesses can receive up to 50,000 $ for projects that focus on providing products and services to Francophones in the province, including promoting the recruitment and training of bilingual Francophone staff, or offering opportunities to celebrate and foster understanding of Ontario’s Francophonie.
The Francophone Community Grants Program is part of the government’s plan to protect Francophones communities across the province by strengthening their economic, social, and cultural vitality.
In 2024, Cornwall was officially designated a Welcoming Francophone Community by the federal government, one of only 24 in Canada.

- Applications must be submitted through the Transfer Payment Ontario portal between Thursday, March 12 and Thursday, April 23, 2026, before 5 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).
- Organizations and businesses interested in applying to the program are encouraged:
- to consult with a regional development advisor before submitting their grant application;
- to participate in the information sessions that will be offered virtually—one in French on March 25 and one in English on March 26, 2026. These sessions will be recorded and posted online.
- Since 2018, more than 260 organizations in Ontario have received approximately $16 million in funding.
- The call for proposals is launched with a six week submission period, followed by the announcement of selected projects in summer 2026.
- Projects must be completed by March 31, 2027.
- In 2025–2026, the total number of projects funded by the program was 71.
