Minimax Expands Fleet with New CNG Trucks
March 19, 2026Cornwall Ontario – Minimax Express has acquired five new compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks from Peterbilt. This purchase is part of the company’s ongoing fleet modernization and commitment to decarbonizing its transport operations. The decision was made following a recent successful trial of a CNG truck by Minimax.

“The trial results exceeded our expectations, both in terms of performance and operating cost savings,” said Marc Poirier, Executive Vice President of Minimax Express Transportation. “This transition to CNG aligns perfectly with our vision of more sustainable and competitive transportation.”
Minimax Express has purchased 2 Peterbilt 579 Daycabs trucks from Excellence Peterbilt in Quebec and 3 Freightliner Cascadia trucks from Globocam in Cornwall. Each unit is equipped with a Cummins X15N natural gas engine, an Endurant 12-speed automated transmission and an Agility 175 DGE tank. The purchase was supported with a grant of $335,190 from the Government of Canada, through Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) Energy-Efficient Freight Transportation Program.
The project is a positive economic boost to Cornwall, Ontario, Quebec and Canada as a whole.
“Through this project, we are providing the Canadian transportation industry with practical and concrete solutions that will promote the decarbonization of the sector while strengthening our supply chains and energy independence,” said Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. “It is with investments like this that we will build a cleaner, safer, and more competitive economy.”
