New Guide Offers Information for Newcomers

Cornwall Ontario – A comprehensive new resource designed to support newcomers in Eastern Ontario is now available for download.

EOLIP Newcomer Info Package

The Newcomer Information Package, a detailed 63-page guide, has been developed to help newcomer individuals and families successfully integrate into the communities of Cornwall and the surrounding counties of Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry (SDG), and Prescott-Russell (PR).

A project of the  the Eastern Ontario Local Immigration Partnership (EOLIP), this all-in-one package serves as a practical and accessible tool for newcomers, as well as the service providers and community partners who support them. It offers clear, relevant information to help navigate essential services and build a strong foundation for life in the region.

The guide covers a wide range of key topics, including:

  • Employment
  • Education
  • Finances
  • Healthcare
  • Safety
  • 2SLGBTQ+ Community Rights and Supports
  • Transportation

“This guide was created to ensure newcomers have the information they need to confidently access services and feel supported as they begin their journey in Eastern Ontario,” said Cindy McRae, Project Manager for EOLIP. “It’s about making the transition smoother and helping people feel at home, faster.”

Whether you are new to the region or supporting someone who is, the Newcomer Information Package is designed to ease the transition process and enhance the overall settlement experience.

About EOLIP

Local Immigration Partnership (LIP)’s bring together service providers, settlement agencies, community groups, employers and other key organizations across the municipality to create a welcoming and inclusive community for newcomers. LIPs can be found in 87 communities across the country. Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) , EOLIP serves  Cornwall, SDG Counties and the Prescott and Russell region and is governed by the Eastern Ontario Training Board.
