Tourism Development Fund Continues to Support Tourism Growth

Cornwall Ontario – The Tourism Development Corporation of Cornwall (TDCC) is pleased to announce a successful year of funding tourism initiatives in Cornwall and area.

Cornwall Tourism Development Fund

A total of $171,750 was invested in the community from the Tourism Development Fund, through the TDF 2024 application process. The funding assisted businesses and event organizers to increase their marketing outside the City as well as improve the overall tourist experience. The net result is increased tourism activity leading to greater positive impact on the local economy, with the potential of generating more repeat visitors.

“The Board is very pleased to be able to support so many innovative applications through the TDF,” says Dale Allen, Chair of the TDCC. “We look forward to the many positive impacts these initiatives will have on our community and the local tourism industry as a whole.”

Over the past 5 years, the Tourism Development Fund has distributed over $1 million dollars to area businesses and organizations, and in the process has helped grow the tourism sector locally.

The TDCC received 34 requests for funding in 2024 and was able to fund 22 of those applications. The awarded funds were allocated as follows:

  • Cotton Candy Classic 2024 – $15,000
  • 1784: 240th Anniversary –   $18,750
  • Big Ben Ski Centre – $16,250
  • CAPE 2024 –   $6,750
  • U16 Cornwall Lions Boys Tournament – $3,500
  • Lawrence by Bike – $10,000
  • Crack up Comedy – $ 3,375
  • Cornwall District Minor Baseball Tournament – $16,250
  • Cornwall Waterfest – $1,875
  • Cornwall Road Warriors 2nd Annual Car Show – $1,875
  • Glengarry Highland Games – $7,500
  • Ferme Butte & Bine – $21,250
  • Festival des Sports et des Cultures de Cornwall (4eme Edition) -$3,750
  • Diversity Cornwall 2024 Pride Parade – $6,375
  • Cornwall Ribfest – $6,375
  • Lawrence Marathon – $6,375
  • Cornwall Triathlon, Duathlon & 5k – $4,250
  • le Festival International Afro et Diversite de Cornwall – $5,000
  • BaitFuel Fishing Tour – $6,375
  • Lost and Sound Festival 2024: Lost Villages Brewery – $2,125

About the Tourism Development Fund

The Tourism Development Fund (TDF) is generated from the proceeds of the Municipal Accommodation Tax and administered by the Tourism Development Corporation of Cornwall (TDCC), a not-for-profit corporation. The TDF was established in 2019.

Eligibility for funding is outlined at CornwallTourism.com/tdf, and all applications are made online. Applicants are required to submit their application at least three months in advance of their project date.
