COVID-19 Business News

The fund provides financial support to charities and other qualified donees adapting their frontline services to support vulnerable Canadians during the COVID-19 pandemic. The ECSF was announced by the Government of Canada and is administered in collaboration with United Way Centraide Canada, Community Foundations of Canada and the Canadian Red Cross.

“We know that the ECSF is critical to strengthening the capacity of community service organizations to meet the urgent needs of vulnerable individuals and families affected by COVID-19,” said Juliette Labossiere, Executive Director of the United Way/Centraide of S.D.& G. “This opportunity to address the well-being and inclusion needs of our communities and our more vulnerable populations is a critical piece of the response to provide the support and relief needed in communities during this pandemic and through our collective recovery afterwards.”

The Government of Canada’s $350 million Emergency Community Support Fund  aims to help charities and non-profit organizations adapt and increase frontline services for vulnerable populations during COVID-19. The United Way/Centraide of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry, together with the members of the Regional Emergency Response Council, are collaborating with the Government of Canada to flow ECSF support to those who need it most right now.

The Fund will provide an investment of $330,807 into local communities. A majority of these funds will be awarded through an open call for application, and the remainder of the fund will be administered directly by the Regional Emergency Response Council who has been assisting the United Way/Centraide in managing the emergency relief since the beginning of this crisis.

Registered charities, qualifying donees and local non-profits currently acting on behalf of our communities’ most vulnerable population are invited to visit the United Way website to learn more information about the application process.
