Work Begins on Expansion of the Cornwall Business Park
September 24, 2025Cornwall Ontario – Work has begun on a major expansion of the Cornwall Business Park.

Work crews are currently on site building a new road and extending services in the northwest section of the Business Park, just southeast of the McConnell Highway 401 interchange 792.
“The long awaited expansion of Nick Kaneb Drive unlocks over 200 acres of developable land within the City of Cornwall,” says Mayor Towndale. “Much of this land is already spoken for, and Cornwall will see significant construction activity in this part of the City for years to come. This activity will bring investment, jobs, and tax base along with it, contributing to the future success of our community.”
The scope of work includes the extension of Nick Kaneb Drive north of Tenth Street East along Highway 401 and the construction of a new road connecting McConnell Avenue to the extended Nick Kaneb Drive. The project encompasses the extension of the road network, installation of new watermains, sanitary sewers, and a sanitary pumping station, along with advanced stormwater management systems, street lighting, and traffic signals.
With a focus on environmental stewardship, the work also includes protection of the wetlands including culvert crossings which will allow wildlife passage, sediment and erosion control, stormwater management and appropriate buffers.
The project will improve traffic flow in the Cornwall Business Park, providing easy access to two Highway 401 interchanges (792 and 796). The project will also see improvements to the municipal water distribution system, as well as capacity and reliability enhancements to electrical and other utility networks. Cornwall’s award-winning cycling infrastructure will also be extended.
In addition to servicing over 200 acres of employment lands, the project will improve development opportunities on adjacent commercial and residential lands.
The $23 million project was awarded to Cornwall Gravel. Final completion of the project is scheduled for July 31, 2026.
