About Ontario Heritage Week

In 1985, the Ontario government designated the third week in February as Ontario Heritage Week. Heritage Week provides a wonderful opportunity for individuals and communities to
reflect on their contributions to Ontario, how heritage is conserved, promoted and commemorated, and how they might shape the future. Since then, the Heritage-Patrimoine Cornwall Committee has been hosting a heritage fair to stimulate awareness of heritage resources and heritage-related issues within our communities, and to honour the organizations and volunteers who have worked to protect our irreplaceable heritage resources.

About the Heritage-Patrimoine Cornwall

The Heritage-Patrimoine Cornwall acts as an advisory body to City Council on matters relating to Cornwall’s natural and cultural heritage resources, including heritage buildings, sites, artifacts,
and neighborhoods. The Committee also helps to ensure that plans for change and progress are developed in a manner that recognizes the historical continuity of the community.

About Cornwall’s Heritage

Cornwall is one of Ontario’s oldest communities, and is situated on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee peoples and the Mohawks of Akwesasne, the original keepers of this land.  Addition information on the city’s history, including links to area heritage attractions, can be found here:
