Chamber Invites Local Businesses to New Digital Hub

April 6, 2020
By Bob Peters

Cornwall Ontario – The Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce is setting up a new website to help local businesses move their businesses online.

Shop Local - Cornwall and Area - 2020

ShopCornwallandArea.ca will act as a digital hub, open to any and all local businesses that would like to participate. Businesses will receive a free listing that will include the kind of information they would like to put in front of consumers – ranging from business contact info to links to online eCommerce sites.

“As we all strive to navigate and adapt to the challenges we face during the pandemic, the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce has been looking for ways in which we can further support all local businesses,” said Greg Pietersma, Executive Director of the Cornwall And Area Chamber of Commerce. “One of our projects is this one-stop directory that will form part of a larger and ongoing Shop Local initiative.”

The Chamber will be providing free support to local business owners who do not have an eCommerce option but would like to set one up.

Each business will be able to customize the info on their listings, and can include a small product catalogue with integrated ecommerce functionality. Business owners will directly receive and manage all purchases, funds, and fulfillment.

Registration has already begun with dozens of local businesses already in the process of creating listings.

The site is expected to go live to the public on April 7, 2020 at which time local residents will be able to access listings and shop for products and services.

The site will be supported with a marketing plan that includes Facebook ads, print ads, and a six-week radio blitz.
