Cornwall Tagged As An Affordable City in Canada
February 28, 2023Cornwall Ontario – Cornwall is a great choice for people looking for affordable housing in a full service community with a growing economy.
The latest organization to recognize that is Nesto, a digital mortgage services company who recently listed Cornwall as fourth in its list of affordable cities to live in Canada based on housing affordability, job growth, rental market affordability, and low cost of living.
“It is always nice to see Cornwall included on these types of lists, which helps generate interest in the city from people looking to relocate,” says Bob Peters, Manager of Economic Development with the City of Cornwall. “Affordability is a key factor that makes Cornwall such an attractive place to live and work, and although house prices have risen significantly over the past couple of years, the Cornwall market can still be described as affordable when compared with other Ontario and Canadian urban centres.”
The average 2023 price of a house in Cornwall is $371,756, which offers significant savings over average house prices in Ontario ($798,835) and Canada ($612,204). House prices have dropped from highs recorded in 2022.
The Canadian Real Estate Association compiles monthly statistics on activity over MLS Systems of Canadian Real Estate Boards and Associations. Here is the latest data:
