Cycling Workshop Rides into Cornwall on April 14
March 27, 2026Cornwall Ontario — Local business owners, cycling enthusiasts and event organizers are invited to explore the possibilities of tapping into a growing cycling market at a Cycle Tourism Destination Development Workshop. The workshop is set to take place at the Benson Centre on April 14, 2026 and is free to attend.

There is a demonstrated growing demand for cycling‑friendly destinations, and Cornwall and SDG offers great cycling experiences. Organizers say the workshop will highlight why welcoming cyclists isn’t just good hospitality, it’s a strategic economic opportunity for the region.
“Cornwall Tourism is excited to host RTO 9 and Ontario By Bike for this cycle workshop. Our community is fortunate to have what we believe is the premier section of the Waterfront Trail running right through our city along the St. Lawrence River. We invite local business owners and community members to join us and learn how we can collectively make Cornwall a top-tier, cycle-friendly destination,” said Shauna Baggs, Supervisor of Art, Culture and Tourism with the City of Cornwall.
The event promises a mix of learning and networking, including:
- Insights into the cycle tourism market and its economic impact
- Guidance on becoming a certified bicycle‑friendly business
- Updates on regional and provincial cycling initiatives
- How local businesses can benefit from increased ridership and trail usage
- Round‑table discussions with tourism professionals
- Complimentary refreshments and open networking opportunities
Participants will also receive an inside look at the RTO 9 Cycling Corridor project, part of the broader Cycle Ontario‑Québec Corridor initiative supported by Destination Canada. The project is expected to elevate South Eastern Ontario as a major cycling hub, connecting communities and enhancing the visitor experience across the province. The event is free to attend, however people are asked to register in advance.
