Cornwall Ontario – Marc Lafleur believes that business is not a marathon but a series of sprints that propel you to success. He expands on these and other ideas in his first book True Founder.

Marc Lafleur

Growing up in Cornwall Marc wasn’t sure what he wanted to do.  While studying at the University of Waterloo he heard how small app developers were  being offered millions of dollars for their companies, and he knew that he wanted to start his own business.

He started an messaging app that did not succeed, and after his second business also failed to survive, he created TruLocal – an app that allows customers to purchase their meat locally.

As truLOCAL gained in popularity, Marc attracted investors which caught the attention of a buyer. In December 2020 he sold truLOCAL for 17 million dollars.  What started as a dream back in university became reality through persistence and creativity.

His entrepreneurial experiences are captured in his new book True Founder, which is published by ForbesBooks.

“Entrepreneurs are professional problem solvers”, said Marc Lafleur. “When I was approached by Forbes to share my journey with other entrepreneurs, I knew I could help new start-ups by sharing my experience and lessons learned.”

Readers will find meaningful insights into the challenges of starting a first business – who to hire, how to attract investors and how to find the right mindset to not only survive the hurtles of entrepreneurship but to thrive.

True Founder is a must-read for aspiring entrepreneurs,” says Michele Romanow, Co-Founder & CEO of Clearco and a Dragon on Dragon’s Den.
