Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre Opens for the Season
May 31, 2023Cornwall Ontario – The Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre is now open for the 2023 summer season.
The popular waterfront visitor centre showcases the rich history of the St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project as well as the communities and people affected. The centre also features exciting and informative interactive displays that make it a key tourist destination in the Cornwall area.
“The Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre is a landmark attraction in Cornwall that highlights a unique part of the region’s history,” said Kevin Lajoie, Tourism Officer with the City of Cornwall. “The interactive displays and one-of-a-kind artifacts make it a must-visit site for people of all ages.”
The Saunders Hyrdo Dam Visitor Centre is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 am to 5 pm for the summer tourism season, which runs from May 23rd to September 1st. Admission to the visitor centre and all programming is free. The Centre is located at 2500B Second Street West, on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in the west end of Cornwall.
“We are excited to announce the opening of the Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre for the 2023 public tourism season,” says Mike Woodcock, Plant Manager at the R.H. Saunders Generating Station. “At Ontario Power Generation, we believe in being a good corporate citizen and neighbour. The visitor centre serves as a safe, inclusive, and educational space for tourists, community partners and the public to enjoy.”
