Cornwall Tourism Development Fund Seeking Applications
January 25, 2024Cornwall Ontario – The Tourism Development Corporation of Cornwall (TDCC) is looking forward to another great year of encouraging growth in the tourism sector.
In 2023, the TDCC dispensed over $300,000 to 34 applicants via the Tourism Development Fund. The supported applications were wide ranging, bringing events, conferences and tournaments to the city. The fund helps local organizers increase their marketing efforts to attract visitors from outside of Cornwall as well as improve the overall tourist experience. The net result is increased tourism activity leading to greater positive impact on the local economy, with the potential of generating more repeat visitors. “The TDCC Board is looking forward to another great year in 2024” says Dale Allen, Chair of the TDCC. “We have approximately $350,000 to award in 2024 and are encouraged by the continuous increase of quality applications we receive.”
Continuous Intake
The Tourism Development Fund accepts applications on an ongoing basis and can award up to $25,000 per application. Eligible projects must have a tourism focus and take place in, or demonstrate a significant impact on the city of Cornwall. Projects must be able to demonstrate their ability to increase tourist attendance, overnight stays and visitor spending in Cornwall.
Eligibility for funding is outlined at www.cornwalltourism.com/tdf, and all applications are completed online. Applicants are asked to submit their application at least three months in advance of their project start date.
About Cornwall Tourism Development Fund
The Cornwall Tourism Development Fund (TDF) was established in 2019 to support efforts to grow the tourism economy in the City of Cornwall. The fund is administered by the Tourism Development Corporation of Cornwall, which is independent and operates at arms length from the City of Cornwall. The TDF is funded by the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT), charged to visitors on hotel or inn stays at a rate of 4% of the total room cost.
